Building a ring from a loose diamond and a setting should not require guesswork. Our ring builder shows you only the diamonds and settings that work together, checks the fit again before you pay, and puts both pieces in one cart. This guide walks through every step.
Open the ring builder whenever you are ready.
Three ways to start
You can begin with whichever piece matters most to you. Every path ends at the same place: a finished ring in your cart.
- Start with a setting. Pick the style and metal you love first. Then choose a diamond that fits it.
- Start with a diamond. Pick a certified diamond first. Then choose from the settings made for its shape and size.
- Fully custom ring. If you want something no ready-made setting offers, tell us your idea and we design it with you.
Step 1: Choose a setting
Each setting card shows the diamond shape and the stone size range it takes, for example "Oval, 6 to 8 mm center stone," along with the starting price. Use the shape filter to narrow the list. When you find a setting you like, select Choose this setting. You can also select it from any setting's product page.
Step 2: Choose a diamond
If you started with a setting, the diamond finder opens already filtered to stones that fit it: the right shape and a size inside the range the setting takes. You can still refine by carat, color, clarity, cut, certificate and price. Every stone is a certified lab-grown diamond with its grading report available on its page. Select Set in a ring on the stone you want.
If you started with a diamond
The order simply reverses. After you choose a stone, the builder lists only the settings that take its shape and size. If none of our ready-made settings suit that diamond, the builder says so and offers to design a custom setting for it instead of leaving you with an empty page.
How we check the fit
A diamond fits a setting when two things are true:
- The shape matches. A pear-shaped diamond is only offered with pear settings.
- The diamond's longest side falls inside the size range the setting takes, with a small allowance of a quarter of a millimeter.
We check this when you choose, on the final step, and again at the moment you add the ring to your cart.
Step 3: Complete your ring
The final step shows your setting and your diamond side by side with the total. Choose the metal and ring size for your setting, then select Add ring to cart. Just before it is added, the builder re-checks four things: that the diamond still fits, that it is still available, its current price, and the setting's current price and stock. If a price changed, you see the update and review the total before you continue.
The setting and the diamond are added to your cart as two linked items, so they check out together.
Changing your mind
The step bar at the top lets you go back at any point. You can swap the setting, swap the diamond, or select Start over to clear both. Your selection is kept in your browser, so you can leave and come back.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use a diamond I already own?
The online builder is built around our certified diamonds. For your own stone, tell us about a custom design.
Why do I see only a few settings for my diamond?
The builder never shows a setting that does not take your stone. A smaller list means those are the settings that genuinely fit your diamond's shape and size. For a wider choice, try a different shape or size, or ask for a custom setting.
Can I talk to someone before I order?
Yes. Book an appointment and we will help you choose.
